Just heard the good news (in case you hadn't guessed).
A positively stonking reult for the SNP 'winning' the election by a single seat, how the Highlands and Islands managed to squeeze in 2 SNP MSPs on the list I'll never know.
So it looks like an SNP, Lib Dem and Green government. My perfect result so I'm a happy man tonight.
What a weekend we have in store.
Have a good night boys and girls, whether you're popping the champagne corks or drowning in your sorrows.

Cheers Jeff. Thanks for the blog. Its been fun/stressful!
I'm going to have a big drink tonight.
The people of Scotland have spoken....
Congratulations! No for the real work..
I meant 'now for the real work'. Anyway, this is a huge step forward.
Thanks for your comments Sadiedoll, I had to write something on here to destress myself.
best election by a country mile.
Will also be having some large drinks tonight, if I can stay awake!
So many great moments on the night but on a personal level I am delighted for Kenny MacAskill, defeating the diescredited Norman Murray in Edinburgh East. Good man.
Fantastic, just fantastic. I worried that we would not have the courage. But we have.
Hey Jeff.
Enjoyed your blog. Reliably optimistic, but really quite astute.
I voted Green/SNP in Kelvin and spent this morning cursing my Glaswegian neighbours, but finally it turned out that it was my northern cousins wot won it.
The way I see it, Scotland is Princess Leia, Cameron Darth Vader and Salmond Obi Wan, which makes you Luke Skywalker, definitely. Then again, i am tired and a bit inebriated.
Brilliant! Both the result and your dilligent number crunching over the last few months.
What plans do you have for the blog now?
Daniel and Clairwil,
(Forgive my amateur attempts at a bit of internet matchmaking by replying to you both in the one post)
First of all, I am loving the phrase reliably optimistic. I was just about to set a competition for the name of my new blog but I think Daniel, you've done the hard work for me! Thanks so much for the compliments, glad you enjoyed my random chat.
And Clairwil, plans are to ditch this blog and leave it as a memento to a fabulous few months with the perfect conclusion. The blogging world has been a huge eye-opener for me, very enjoyable and surprisingly does not intrude into my 'real life'.
And the political scene is far, far too exciting to leave it as it is just now, so a new blog will be up and running once I think of an appropriate angle for it.
And I'll take the Luke Skywalker thing! Makes sense to me and I'm (fairly) sober. Though my sister is better looking than Princess Leia.
