Personally, I always have a bit of a wry smile when I travel to England and shop staff behind the counter go all funny when I hand over Scottish notes. A phrase I'll never forget came when in a Marks and Spencers in Northampton and I nonchalantly handed over a Bank of Scotland £20, a shrieking "Do we take foreign currency Shazza?" rang out across the shop as this charming lady called on one of her colleagues for help.
So it's with great joy that I read there are a whole new bunch of Scottish notes coming out, even more 'foreign' to our brothers and sisters down south.
And best of all, it really does look like monopoly money with it's child-like font, bright colours and nice pictures of bridges across Scotland. Double thumbs up from me.
I'll be in London on Monday, I just hope the cash machines are stocked up with foreign notes before then so the fun and games can begin......
NOTE: I shouldn't be too smug about all of this; a good few years ago I worked as a waiter in an ill-fated cafe in Princes Mall (ill fated as the staff, myself included, were a lazy bunch of arses). One time I was handed an Ulster £10 note and I was a hair's breadth from saying we couldn't accept it so I do genuinely sympathise with the English plight on this one. Still makes me laugh though......

I once almost refused a Bank of Ireland banknote before I was told that it was the Bank of (Northern) Ireland.
But my worst moment came when I was handed a plastic fiver that was issued by the Northern Bank! I thought I was being bullshitted big time.
Went home to look it up on Wikipedia only to find out that it is real! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymer_banknotes
