It seems the auditor general has finalised his report on the trams. It sounds like the SNP will have a hard time explaining why they shouldn't go ahead with them though gioven that Robert Black has given the project a clean bill of health.
The SNP may well just have to go with it, but at least they can now say something like "well, we weren't sure before as it was never our scheme. We now have the assurance from Audit Scotland and we'll drive forward with it, albeit with some reservations".
Alternatively, if they dig their heels in with the A9 improvements then it will be a bumpier ride in Holyrood.
As for this:
Meanwhile, a recent survey of commuters in Edinburgh claimed support for plans for a tram network in the city.
More than three quarters of 850 workers and students on the city waterfront said they would use the tram, according to the work by transport body Transform Scotland.
That is extremely poor survey work there, or perhaps deliberately misleading reporting.
I would use the trams everyday if they were built, I still think they are a waste of money and do not support them.
Does competition help the NHS?

"Are you in favour of everyone else paying for a tram that's conveniently located by your work?"
1) Very in favour
2) Are you kidding? Of course I am!
What's this "everyone else" nonsense?
It's not like there will be a whip round and you can opt in and out of paying. If the trams get built, then I'll be paying my fair share via taxes.
I just think it's an awful lot of money for a tram scheme that will be running alongside an already excellent bus scheme.
But if they do get built, I'll use them cos, well, trams are just cooler than buses and I have my street cred to think about being a city slicker and all ;)
