I thought I would use my humble blog to promote a couple of groups I heard about recently.
EFN - The Edinburgh Feminist Network
"We are a group of feminist women meeting in Edinburgh hosting discussion groups, running campaigns and organising all sorts of feminist fun!!"
Contact:
E_F_N@myway.com
E_F_N@myway.com
"White Ribbon Scotland is part of the international campaign to involve men in stopping men's violence against women. Wearing a white ribbon is a personal pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about men's violence against women in all its forms."
Not only are they both worthy causes but each group is in its infancy so support would be both welcome and the perfect opportunity to be involved right to the very core of what each group wants to achieve.

Perhaps we could all do more to work towards an end ALL domestic violence
Pardon my ignorance but is "feminist fun" not an oxymoron?

Good to hear you're on board with what the group wants to help towards achieving.
I wouldn't say that campaigning towards male violence against women somehow gives tacit approval that any other kind of violence is acceptable.
Your comment is tantamount to a group helping children in Africa and then getting pelters for not helping kids in Asia.
An end to all domestic violence would be nice but males abusing females is arguably a more pressing and widespread problem.
I can therefore see why it's given a specific focus by this White Ribbon group.
Anonymous #2 - I think you're being charitable describing such a viewpoint as "ignorance".
Let's just say if this website allowed for a tumbleweed graphic then it would be up here already.
Oh, Jeff...
As much as I admire your self-gratifying moral stance is there not room for some well intended self-deprecating humour.
Did one not see sense the tone?
As someone who neither helps kids in Asia nor goes out of his way to stand up for feminists I can assure you my stance is as far from morally self-gratifying as it could possibly be.
I think we may have missed each others tone in that case, I thought my tumbleweed comment was pretty funny and not overly harsh.
I guess in the absence of a ;) it can be difficult to know ;)
Good man Jeff, I knew an Edinburgh accountant wouldn't lack the foresight to interpret my comment accurately.
How is the Berg, are you all missing me?
