I can't say I've been to Lockerbie recently, the small Scottish Borders town which is famous for its cheese. But it seems Professor Harvie has and if he says it's a dump then it probably is.
So let's not mince around with over-egged theatrics and waste time wringing our hands just because a plane fell on this village once. If it's a dump let's name it so and set about doing something about it.
Anything else is just a waste of time...

Speaking of shitholes and dumps, those Cowan House days were squalidly delightful. And I recall being a 'star' player in the 10 Men and a Fat Goalie squad from back in the day... (Assuming substitutes can be star players of course)
I can't remember there being a Fred Barboo in Cowan House. But then, I'm guessing that's not your real name...

And you are right, Cowan had a certain ‘roughing it’ appeal. Having said that I have just moved out of a windowless box room above a pub where I stayed for 6 months and it was considerably less rough than Cowan.
I never played football but remember that the goalie shared the same first name as me.

I'm only in touch with D and C blockers. Niall I believe is on the Facebook Group "Cowan House ex-residents" or something so he should be very easy to look up.
The only other bit of gossip is the other Dave in E block, the bigger slightly scary one, is (or used to be) the head bar guy at The Outhouse near Broughton St.
