From Scottish Tory Boy I have learned that a recent YouGov poll has put SNP support up at 40% and, perhaps more dramatically, support for a referendum on independence is sitting at 65%.
A constant argument used by the unionist parties is that, as they have a majority of MSPs between them, then their views represent the prevailing view of the country.
Well, that theory is now blown out of the water.
Labour, Tories and Lib Dems may well make up 61% of the debating chamber, but if 65% of the Scottish population clearly want something, then it is an MSPs democratic duty to seek ways to make it happen.
Bona fide reasons for voting down the SNP's white paper on an independence referendum are diminishing as the date draws nearer...

I have to say that I'm always slightly sceptical of the use of opinion polls.
Firstly because (as in a West Wing episode) they very rarely give the whole story e.g. you might be asked your opinion on a referendum and even if you say you support one, it doesn't say how much you actually care, simply that you were asked and thought you should answer.
Secondly I have a slight problem with the demand of referendums for issues people can't secure support in a general election for. I don't doubt this latest poll but am fairly sure that you would get similar figures (if not higher) calling for a vote on capital punishment. Logically then we should have one for this too?
Having said all that I still think a referndum will happen before 2015 (for reasons too long to outline here but included in my own blog):
