Cameron's Mum's a bike, apparently

From Michael Settle of The Herald:

"The prize of quote of the day goes to David Cameron on the stump in Glenrothes. Asked if he would sack George Osborne, the Shadow Chancellor, if it turned out he had not been telling truth about the Deripaska affair, the Tory leader replied: "If my mother had wheels, she'd be a bicycle."

Calling someone's Mum a bike in Fife probably ends up with someone getting their head kicked in. But given Cameron did it to his own mother, he'll probably just about get away with it.

Any idea what 'Dave' is getting at though? I can't work him out...

He's a foreigner*. Could he perhaps be speaking some strange foreign language? ;-)

*Well, not yet... but don't you want him to be?

you are strangely obsessed, scottish unionist...
methinks you protest too much and are trying to come to terms with your secret nat-i-ness :)

I'm pulling Jeff's leg, Anon.

That's what the ;-) indicates.

Do you consider Australia to be "foreign", SU?

Alas, you're barking up the tree old bean (SU).

I do not think of Cameron as a foreigner due to which country he was born in, it would be the posh-boy, Bullingdon Club nonsense that would have me thinking him 'foreign'. (see next post for photo)

And I fear you're letting those 3 little letters (S.N.P.) cloud your mind. I'm undecided on independence and I don't think I'd use the word foreigner anyway unless I fancy listening to some 70s/80s rock ;)

Cameron attempting a version of that well known Scottish saying:- "if my Auntie had baws she'd be my Uncle". His version just doesn't have that authentic ring.

Quoting out of context are we? ;) I watched the whole thing and thought it made perfect sense - and was quite funny, too. Note to Jeff: Must try harder.

Bill,

Not for the first time, I haven't a ruddy clue what you're banging on about. I lifted the Herald's entire blog article so if you have a problem, take it up with Michael Settle. I've not seen it on tv.

Kind regards,

Jeff

PS You must be the most passive aggressive winker I've ever 'met'.
