The selection of the SNP candidate for the Glasgow North East by-election (pencilled in for late summer) has had to be postponed as the vetting committee were unable to finalise a shortlist of candidates.
The selection will now take place next Tuesday.
Will Labour bring forward the date of the by-election given the Nationalists are, seemingly, in disarray?

Ugh.
Can't be a good thing and it's especially worrying given that the spectator is reporting that the Norwich by-election will be on July 23rd.
Would Labour call the by-elections for two different days?
Explain 'disarry', I would rather they took the time and we had a strong candidate than doing everything in a rush. It has only been a week since we knew that Grant Thoms did not want to contest the seat and remain a councillor. The by-election isn't going to be announced until Martin is en-nobled. We should prepare for the long haul. We don't want a another SNP campaign like Glenrothes.
Does anyone know who could potentially be up for selection?
I would prefer to say we are playing it cool and don't want to be rushed...
Well, disarray doesn't necessarily mean the walls are caving in and one is hollering 'Auntie Em' repeatedly while huddled in a corner shaking like a sh*tting dog.
But arranging an emergency meeting and then delaying it by a week when the SNP top brass have known for weeks, months even, that the main candidate had serious question marks over his head qualifies as 'disarray' in my book I'm afraid.
I heard Elaine C Smith might be a candidate? ;-)
On the other hand, the GE is only a relatively short time away so perhaps all parties just can't really raise themselves for this by-election. Is there really that much to play for?
Wash your mouth out with soap and water, young master Jeffrey. I always take the 'Iwo Jima' approach to elections. If it's on our soil, we fight.
